The annual elections are over and the members of Post 177 have elected
officers and board members to serve in the various volunteer leadership
positions at our Post. I would like to personally thank all of the
members who took the time to attend the General Membership Meeting in
May and vote.
We have several new faces on the Executive Committee and Corporate
Board, some long time members who have served previously in elected
positions, and some who have stepped up to participate and become
involved in the leadership of the Post.
This year we want to expand our efforts to assist Veterans and their
families while also attempting to hold more member events. We are
limited in our efforts to assist our Veterans and their families by the
number of members who volunteer. Please, if you have some time or a
special skill or talent you can share, contact one of the Post officers
or email and let us know. The more members that get involved, the more
we, as a Post, can do. The Post is involved in numerous Honor Flights
for WWII Veterans visiting the WWII Memorial from across the U.S.,
Visits to Veterans’ Hospitals and Homes, Flag Disposal Ceremonies,
various social events at the Post, Holiday parties at Walter Reed and at
the Post Home for veterans, wounded warriors and their families and
veterans. The more of you who volunteer, the more we as a Post can do to
help those who deserve our time and efforts.
For our members, we have initiated new quarterly or monthly social
events featuring various themes. Recently we have held a German Night
with a 10-piece traditional band, a Swing Night with great live dance
music, and plans are underway – look for details elsewhere in this
newsletter - for a Country Western Night. We are open to suggestions
from our members for other activities. Please email or contact our newly
elected 3rd Vice Commander Dean Strong.
Once again, thank you for your participation at the May General
Membership Meeting. Your elected officers and I look forward to
increased membership participation in our programs this year.
For God and Country,
Robert B. Sussan, Commander
